Srinivas Gowda – The Indian buffalo racer compared to Usain Bolt
Record-Breaking is one of the most glorious happening, Records are being created and meant to be only for breaking it, as such now the famous sprinter ”UsainBolt” Record is been broken up by Srinivasa Gowda, 28, took just 13.62 seconds to cover a distance of 145 metres at the Kambala at Aikala village about 30 kilometres from Mangaluru, breaking the earlier record dating back to the early 1990s.
The previous record was set at Aladangadi near Belthangady where the buffaloes and jockey covered 141 metres in 13.25 seconds and at Bajaguli near Karkala where a distance of 133.5 metres was covered in 12.48 seconds. Kambala jockeys get a remuneration of Rs 1-2 lakh to train buffaloes and take part in competitions for a season. The owners also give them cash prizes if their buffaloes win any contests.
‘Kambala’ race is a traditional race that involves buffalo. It is a traditional seasonal buffalo race in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts’ farming community.
Netizens shared the pictures of Kambala race, along with Gowda, on Facebook, Twitter and other social media, and were all in praise of Gowda.
Coming to the records, the numbers cannot be equaled with Bolt’s record as the Kambala racer was running alongside a pair of buffaloes and the speed generated was also because of the animals. But the interesting fact is that the race was run in a slushy field, which can only be a speed obstacle.
