Online classes for the 6,820 Greater Chennai Corporation school students who will appear for the Class X exams from June 15 are in full swing. The Corporation deputy commissioner (education), highlighted that the teachers were first trained to use the Zoom app and WhatsApp on their mobile phones before they began teaching for the class 10 students.
As many as 6280 GCC school students would be writing their class 10 public exams on 15th June 2020. The online classes for these students are now going on full swing. Those students who have just passed out of class 9 would have online classes also and this was as per the civic body.
An important point is NGOs and corporate funding has helped in the procurement of 5000 smartphones and on Thursday these smartphones were distributed.
Volunteers of Teach for India, an NGO, trained the teachers on the usage of the Zoom app and also provided smartphones to students. Several other NGOs and corporate entities are tying up with corporations to help these students.
